ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ/Gray News) – A dog who stayed at a shelter in Virginia for 472 days has been adopted.
RoRo was left at Angels of Assisi in Roanoke after her family suffered a loss that led them to move. According to the shelter, they could no longer afford to take care of her.
She then needed surgery to remove a cancerous mass. RoRo also has severe allergies, which caused her to have some hearing loss.
Despite it all, the shelter says RoRo has remained a “happy, playful and loving dog.”
“All 472 of those shelter days, RoRo has been a happy, playful and loving dog, with our kennel staff often going into her space on their breaks to spend extra time with her,” they said in a Facebook post.
RoRo was adopted last weekend during the agency’s Pet Expo Adopt-A-Thon. The shelter said she is already settling in with her human, Kathy, who says RoRo is in fact the one who rescued her.
